Sight Fishing Success: Fly Casting Thrills on Butler Beach Flats!
Action-packed day from the get-go! I took Soundarya and their crew out for a summer afternoon of flats fishing with Ray Chaters in Butler Beach, Florida. As we set out around 3 PM, the skies were partly cloudy, perfect for sight fishing on the flats. The Kaveri River Basin provided an ideal backdrop for our adventure. We were geared up and ready to make the most of the conditions before the forecasted afternoon rain.
Once the stage was set, we got down to business with some serious sight fishing and poling. I worked the flats, keeping an eye out for any signs of activity. Soundarya and their crew got to experience the thrill of fly casting in this unique environment. Our patience paid off as we hooked into a variety of species. The highlight was definitely a 14-inch Mahi Mahi, also known as Common Dolphinfish, which put up a great fight. We also landed some African Pompano, Mexican Mojarra, and White Grunt, adding to the day's diverse catch.
As the afternoon progressed, we made the most of every cast, even as rain clouds started to gather. The changing conditions didn't dampen our spirits, and we wrapped up the trip with smiles all around, having experienced the best of what Butler Beach has to offer.
