Reeling in Excitement: Discover Butler Beach's Inshore Fishing Bounty
It was a beautiful day out on the water as I welcomed Soundarya for a fishing trip at Butler Beach. March is a great time to be fishing the inshore waters here, as the warming temperatures draw the fish closer to the shoreline. We had clear conditions throughout the day, perfect for tracking the baitfish and finding the feeding lanes.
We set out with a variety of techniques, running the gamut from deep sea trolling to light tackle jigging. I wanted to give Soundarya the full inshore experience, so we covered a lot of ground—casting for skittish reds in the shallows, working subsurface structure for speckled trout, and even trying our hand at some bow fishing. Though we didn't manage to land any big prize, we still had a great time out on the water, enjoying the scenery and good company.
The action was steady, with fish busting the surface and tailing on the flats. We had a few promising hookups, but they just didn't want to stick. Still, it was a beautiful day to be on the water, taking in the sights and sounds of the coastal ecosystem. Between the laughter and the occasional reel-screaming run, I could tell Soundarya was having a blast.
