Sailfish Surprise: Gulf Shores Inshore Adventure Defies Expectations

What a day we had out on the water with Ashish! Our Inshore Fishing Adventure in Gulf Shores kicked off at 10:15 pm from Butler Beach. May's a great time for fishing around here, with the waters warming up and the fish getting more active. The weather was a bit tricky, partly cloudy with some rain, but that didn't stop us from having a blast.

We tried out a bunch of different techniques to make sure we'd catch something good. Started with some deep sea fishing, then moved on to jigging and trolling. When that didn't quite do the trick, we switched it up with some bow fishing and fly fishing. The variety kept things interesting, and Ashish was game to try it all. We even gave ice fishing a shot, just for fun! As we moved around, we tried bait casting, heavy tackle, and kite fishing too. The light tackle worked well in some spots, and we gave spey fishing and surf casting a go when the conditions were right. Drift fishing was relaxing, and we finished up with some spearfishing for a real hands-on experience.

The highlight of the day was definitely when we hooked into an Atlantic Sailfish. Those fish are known for putting up a great fight, and this one didn't disappoint. Ashish did a great job reeling it in - it was touch and go for a while, but we managed to land it. It's always a thrill to see a sailfish up close, with those bright colors and that iconic sail. After we got some quick photos, we released it back into the water. Even though we were river fishing, catching a sailfish was a real surprise and made the whole trip worthwhile.
