Hooked Inshore Monsters Ignite the Thrill of Jacksonville's Fishing
It was a beautiful day in Jacksonville, Florida, and I was excited to take my friend Shrunga out for a day of inshore fishing on the river. February is a prime time for this type of fishing, as the warming waters bring the fish closer to the surface, making them more active and aggressive.
We met up at the Jacksonville marina bright and early and quickly got our gear and bait ready. The waters were looking great, with just a slight chop that would help hide our lures. As soon as we got our lines in the water, the action started. It didn't take long before Shrunga was hooked up with an Atlantic Sharpnose Shark. That fish put up one heck of a fight, stripping line and thrashing on the surface, but Shrunga kept his cool and worked it in expertly.
After a few photos, we released the shark and kept working the area. The fishing remained steady, with a mix of species hitting our baits. Though we didn't land any tournament-winning trophies, we had a blast battling the fish and taking in the sights around us. It's always a good day when you can get out on the water, especially in a beautiful spot like Jacksonville.
