Trophies Galore as Anglers Reel in Mahi and Tuna in Jacksonville
It was an early start, but the excitement of the day ahead had me up well before the 3:00 AM meeting time at the Jacksonville docks. The inshore bite has been fantastic this time of year, with clear conditions and great water making for some outstanding Deep Sea, Jigging, and Trolling opportunities. As Shrunga S and I headed out, the anticipation was palpable—we were chasing some serious trophy fish today.
The ride out was smooth, and we arrived on the grounds ready to get to work. I rigged up some heavy tackle and started working some prime Mahi Mahi structure, while Shrunga opted for a Fly Fishing setup to target the Yellowfin tuna that had been showing up. It wasn't long before the rods started bending—Shrunga hooked into a feisty Yellowfin that had him working hard, while I picked up a nice Mahi that put on an incredible aerial display. The action stayed steady, and we managed to boat a few more quality fish, including some impressive Mahi Mahi and Yellowfin tuna.
As the day went on, the conditions remained excellent, and the fish kept cooperating. We mixed up the techniques, trying everything from Jigging to Bow Fishing, keeping the variety high and the excitement level even higher. By the time we started heading back, we had a great spread of fish to show for our efforts—it was shaping up to be one of the best trips of the season.
